Farzi Cafe – Mangomania

With the slew of mango festivals hittin Bangalore’s restaurants, one could be forgiven for groaning at the thought of yet another !!!
But when the invite is from Farzi, one does not act Fussy and one goes there to enjoy the vibe, the ambience, the wonderful company and of course the food and drink … and of course somewhere deep down inside, one knows that one really cannot stay away from anything to do with mangoes, regardless of how overdosed one might momentarily feel 😀

The generous bar churned out the vodka based Mango Magic, the mango infused tequila Mangolicious, Mangorita with tequila and mango marmalade and Mango Mocha with mango, coffee and lime, which was unusual enough for me to like, despite not normally being a coffee enthusiast.

Green Mango and Papaya Salad with the crunch of peanuts and liberally topped with crispy lotus stem, was a great start to the meal.

The spiced Chicken Meatballs with a raw mango and cheese center and the Raw mango and mushroom stuffed in plump mini semi circles of kulcha, kept the trend going and were perfectly good on their own.

The Roasted fish tacos with mango salsa and the Tandoori River Sole with raw mango chutney, did need the help of their accompanying chutneys, to provide the palate with requisite entertainment 😀

Not being an Idly person, it would reek of personal bias to comment on the Ghee podi baby idlies with the raw mango and cheese core and hence instead of Idli’ng over this dish, I went on to the main course and mopped up the highly palatable Aubergine and asparagus, cherry tomato and mango masala with Dhaniya Kulcha.
I gave a miss to the Kacchi ambi ki dal with Ghee pulao but had a bit of the Andhra fish curry with mango and served with steamed rice. Flavorful but not high enough on spice.

We ended on a note of sweetness that was provided by the Vanilla pod cheesecake, prettily placed in the center of dizzying concentric circles of Kesari aam ras and also the Mango and white chocolate popsicle, with its mangooey insides encased in a shield of white chocolate and dunked in fresh mango falooda. And if the sound of that is not enough to make you want to rush over there, then I don’t know what will 😀

So get to Farzi as Farzt as your legs can carry you and check out the mango mania before the season ends !!!
