June 11th – 13th, 2025

I gaze out of my large window at the ‘mist-kist’ hill that looms in the distance. The vista of the iconic and imposing Chamundi hills draped in lush, rain washed greenery, makes it difficult for me to believe that I am actually in a hotel in the heart of the city and not in some idyllic resort amidst pristine surroundings, with air so fresh that it makes my Bangalore bred (and battered) lungs gasp in pleasant surprise!
I speak of the TGI Livancia Hillside Hotel, a recent addition to the list of hotels that lie within the culture rich city of Mysore which is the headquarters of the Mysore district in Karnataka, India.
If you are looking for a very comfortable stay, economical pricing and pleasant service in Mysore, then follow me into the portals of this hotel and see what it has in store.

About Mysore –

Mysore, also known as Mysuru, is a city in South India which is steeped in history, heritage and culture. An entire book would be needed to sing praises of this city but our focus being the hotel that lies within this beautiful place, we will just have a teeny glimpse here 😎
So in brief, this is a place is a tourists delight with something of interest for all age groups. It is famous for its heritage buildings including palaces and monuments, several lakes, the famed Mysore silk, museums, zoo, many notable religious places and much more.
It is also within a 100 km distance of a few national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
About The Great Indian Group of Hotels and Resorts (TGI) –
I have already had the pleasure of experiencing 2 of the premier resorts of the TGI brand, namely the Trishvam Tapovana in Sakleshpura and the TGI Star Holiday Resort, Yercaud and hence the details below are what I have already mentioned in those blog posts.
They are constantly expanding their portfolio though, to include new hotels and resorts in more cities across the South and every time I experience a new property of theirs, they would have managed to add more places to their brand, in this impressively ongoing process!
TGI Hotels and Resorts manages and markets a chain of small, medium and premium hotels and resorts across India.
Based in Puducherry, this is a venture by two hotel management graduates Amitava Roy and V.K. Arun Kumar. They began operations in 2014 and have now burgeoned from a single hotel in Yelagiri, to several business and boutique hotels as well as resorts across India.
This 6 year old property which was earlier operating as the Hillside Hotel, has now donned a brand new avatar under the TGI group with its relaunch in January 2025 as the TGI Livancia Hillside.
A typical regular looking building which nevertheless has the benefit of being surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking the tranquil Chamundi hills, this hotel offers a blend of comfort, serenity and natural beauty along with modern amenities.
Features and Amenities –
This 5 storey building features an on-site restaurant on the ground floor and 3 floors of rooms and a rooftop pub and restaurant which are accessible via elevators.
Being fairly new, it is still a Work-In-Progress with an upcoming banquet hall and boardroom slated to open later this 2025.
A swimming pool and fitness center are also on the anvil.
I will hopefully be able to make another visit in future and showcase those features after they are complete.
A short video of the property –
The Stay –
TGI Livancia Hillside Hotel offers 48 options with rooms that are designed to provide all standard amenities.
All the rooms have ensuite bathrooms and provide the basic amenities like Air conditioning, King Size Bed, Complimentary Wi-Fi Access, TV, safe, tea/coffee maker, drinking water, minibar, wardrobe, basic toiletries, bed and bath linen, 24 hours hot water etc.
Laundry Service is available and chargeable. Bathrobe, Bath Slippers, Iron etc are available on request.
Room Service from their in-house restaurant Breeze, is operational from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm.
Guests have a choice of 4 categories of rooms namely the Executive Room, Premium Room, Club Suite and Livancia Suite. The rooms facing the front, have the view of the Chamundi hills and the other rooms face a residential area at the back. Needless to say, the former are more preferred. Some of the rooms have balconies too and I would definitely recommend the hill facing ones.

There are 14 of the 165 sq ft Executive Rooms which are designed to provide the comfort and convenience of home and hence are ideal for families or groups of friends. The 14 rooms are divided into 4 service apartments of 2 BHK each and 2 apartments of 3 BHK each. Each apartment has separate living rooms, dining space and a kitchenette which however is not equipped but can be used by guests who carry their own supplies.
The 2 BHK can accommodate up to 4 guests and the 3 BHK up to 6.

The Premium Room has 210 sq ft of comfortable space and there are 27 such rooms available. They can accommodate up to 2 guests.

The 5 Club Suites are each 290 sq ft in size, have 2 balconies and a separate living room. They accommodate up to 4 guests.

The largest option is the Livancia Suite at 325 sq ft. The 2 suites in the category, have the same features of the Club suites and also accommodate up to 4 guests.

Dining –
The hotel has 2 restaurants on site, The Breeze Kitchen on the ground floor and the Soko by House of Commons pub and restaurant on the roof top. Both these places are open to in-house guests as well as walk-ins who have a separate access.

The Breeze Kitchen is the in-house dining space operated by TGI and is open from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm everyday. Currently the final menu is also a Work-in-progress but temporary options are in place which cover a few standard dishes for all 3 meals.
The upcoming menu will encompass multicuisine options including meal Thalis at lunch, a la carte dishes and when the occupancy warrants it, buffet style buffet meals too.
This restaurant can seat 50 pax both indoors and in the verandah area alongside. and serves breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner.
Room service is also available for those who wish to dine in private.
I had the pleasure of experiencing a few meals at the restaurant.

Soko by House of Commons pub and restaurant is a very happening place perched atop the hotel and serves a medley of food that includes continental, pizzas, Italian, North and South Indian, desserts and other bar foods. Of course they have a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages too.
With a capacity of 200 pax spread over the 4th floor and an exclusive mezzanine floor for families, Soko caters to the regular pub going crowd as well as families. A live band, a great view and interesting interiors make it a highly sought after place for unwinding or partying.

Soko is an outsourced brand but is available for dining for lunch and dinner to the hotel guests too. They do not provide in-room service though.
It is operational from lunch time to midnight.
Food options outside the hotel –
There are several restaurants serving varied cuisines all across Mysore. There are a few pure vegetarian options in the immediate vicinity too.
Activities –
Activities within the hotel –
As mentioned earlier, the swimming pool and fitness center are yet to take form. So there are currently no extra amenities for the use of guests.
Things to do in the Surroundings –
Mysore is a tourists delight.
Almost next door to the hotel is the House of Mysore Pak – a famous outlet showcasing the iconic sweet of the same name. There are also several Mysore silk outlets for those who would like to shop. The Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum which is said to be the first such museum in India, is also in the vicinity.
Within a short radius of 3 km from the hotel, lie the Karanjikere lake and the Mysore zoo.
The Chamundi hills and Chamundeshwari Templewhich is a very popular spot are also a mere 8 km up the road.
The Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, St. Philomena’s Church etc, in Mysore city, are some of the other attractions which are within a 6 km radius.
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Srirangapatana, Brindavan Gardens/KRS dam etc, are also places of tourist interest in the surroundings of Mysore.
Visitor Profile –
Guests of all ages are permitted with no restrictions.
The hotel is a city hotel and hence suitable for business visitors. With its blissful and peaceful setting, is also good for families on a holiday.
It is an ideal venue for any type of occasion, whether it be a rejuvenating break from the mundane to get away from it all or for corporate team outings or celebrations of intimate nature or family events like birthday parties etc.
It is a good place for individuals, couples, families and groups of friends. Bear in mind however, that it is not a wheelchair accessible place.
Best time to visit –
Mysore city is a year round destination. Summer months of March to May might be on the hotter side but the rest of the year experiences a pleasant climate.
Phone and internet connectivity –
The property provides a free Wifi connection for its guests which is very stable.
What is available and what you should carry –
Mysore is a big city and hence one can always procure most essentials quite easily.
The hotel has a generator for power back up in case of a power failure.
All standard toiletries and bed and bath linen are provided.
