TGI Redolent Resort, Coorg

Sep 27th – 29th, 2025

When you have the finest view of the resort right from your balcony, it’s tempting to spend most of your time simply letting nature serenade you with its rhythm, as you indulgently sink into a reclining chair and soak in the pleasing panorama, right from the vibrant blue of the pool to the encompassing lushness which it shimmers through.

Of course you do have to reluctantly budge from time to time for your meals and to explore the sights you’ve planned to see but for the most part, relaxation is the mantra, just as it should be on an ideal holiday!

Nestling in the lap of the undulating terrain of the Coorg district of Karnataka, India, TGI Redolent Resort is yet another addition to the list of burgeoning resorts from the well known brand, The Great Indian Group of Hotels and Resorts, a name synonymous with hospitality and comfort.

If you are looking for a very convenient stay which offers modern amenities in the heart of nature and which is also close to a few popular tourist attractions, then join me in lolling around in this scenic getaway, which is less than 5 hours from Bangalore.

About Coorg –

Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is one of Karnataka’s greener districts located on the slopes of the mighty Western ghats and its climate and hilly terrain make it a land suitable for growing coffee and spices. Large plantations drape its hillsides, making for scenic views of dense green.

This is the land of the Kodavas, a warrior clan well known for their hospitable and friendly ways and who have maintained their distinct culture and traditions by way of cuisine, customs, attire, festivals etc.

This landscape of this unique district is a tapestry of mountains and hilly regions with their verdant swathes of rainforests, innumerable water bodies and waterfalls, trekking trails, wildlife etc and hence it is but natural (pun intended) for it to draw tourists to it like a magnet.

Coorg shares a border with the state of Kerala and it also has the Karnataka districts of Mysore, Hassan and Dakshin Kannada as its neighbors.

About The Great Indian Group of Hotels and Resorts (TGI) –

I seem to be visiting TGI properties in quick succession and this list below will prove my point 🙂

If you have followed my posts, you will know that I have so far had the pleasure of experiencing 4 properties of the TGI brand, namely the Trishvam Tapovana in Sakleshpura, the TGI Star Holiday Resort, Yercaud, the TGI Livanica Hillside, Mysore and Trishvam Symphony, Krishnagiri and I have repeated the details of their brand, an equal number of times 😊

Since they are constantly expanding their portfolio to include new hotels and resorts in more cities across the South, every time I experience a new property of theirs, they would have managed to add more places to their brand!

TGI Hotels and Resorts manages and markets a chain of small, medium and premium hotels and resorts across India.

Based in Puducherry, this is a venture by two hotel management graduates Amitava Roy and V.K. Arun Kumar. They began operations in 2014 and have now burgeoned from a single hotel in Yelagiri, to several business and boutique hotels as well as resorts across India.

The various features of the property include the reception lounge, a swimming pool, spa, indoor and outdoor games area, play area for children, a banquet hall, couple of gazebos, a restaurant and all the cottages.

Reception area –

The main building at the entrance consists of a large and pleasant reception area from where one can get a beautiful view of the property, with its well maintained landscaped gardens which feature a profusion of flowering plants and other trees.

The front desk staff is available 24/7.

Swimming pool –

The lovely, curvy swimming pool has both adult and children’s sections which are 3.3 ft and 2.5 ft deep respectively.

One can also lounge on the deck chairs and soak in the ambient beauty and serenity.

The pool is open from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.

Spa –

Providing a host of massage options, this functions from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 3.30 pm to 8.00 pm. It is better to go by prior appointment.

Indoor games –

This recreation area is designed for all ages and offers games like chess, carrom, table tennis, foosball, pool etc.

It is open from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm.

Outdoor games –

Games like cricket, volleyball and shuttlecock can be played in the designated space behind the restaurant.

Play area for children –

The play area being next to the restaurant, children can entertain themselves with the various play equipment, while under the watchful eye of their parents.

Banquet Hall –

Aikyam is the banquet hall set in a serene atmosphere behind all the cottages. Featuring modern amenities, this hall also has an access from a separate entrance gate. It has 60 covers for seating and 80 covers in cluster style.

Gazebos –

A short video of the property –

The Stay –

TGI Redolent Resort offers 36 cottages set in clusters within tranquil surroundings, their red laterite exteriors in vibrant contrast with the lush greenery.

The 230 sq ft of space offers an elegant retreat, with a blend of style and comfort.

Crafted with a blend of modern architecture and red laterite stone, the interiors sport a minimalistic and elegant look. Featuring soft, light interiors, high ceilings, a large ‘bed to ceiling’ window and plush king size 4 poster beds, each of these units can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests.

The balconies are a welcome feature because one can just laze on the chairs and gaze out at the serene surroundings, which can include the swimming pool if you have chosen wisely!

Pro tip – Cottage 501 (where I had the pleasure of staying), has the best balcony view in the entire property, encompassing a circular area right from the reception, to the pool and to the rest of the cottages.

All the cottages have similar amenities with ensuite bathrooms, king size beds, air conditioning, a 43 inch TV, tea and coffee maker, free internet access, mini fridge, in-room safe, hair dryer, slippers, toiletries, bath linen, bathrobe, slippers, wardrobe, room service etc.

Paid laundry service is available.

Dining –

The poolside restaurant Swaarasya accommodates 60 diners. One can savor the food in the comfort of the hall or in the verandah with the view of the lush greenery and the beautiful blue waters of the pool.

With a central oval buffet counter island surrounded by the tables, the indoor space is as aesthetically pleasing as the outdoors that surround it.

Serving multicuisine fare with buffet and a la carte options, the chef and his team produce food which appeals to the masses. They have a separate menu for children too.

They also offer a few local Coorg dishes but in my personal opinion they could do a more authentic job of the regional fare. A menu revamp is apparently on the cards and would be quite welcome.

Breakfast and dinner are usually served buffet style, depending on the occupancy. At lunch time most of the guests are away on sightseeing trips and hence a la carte options are offered. Charges for the meals are as per booking plan.

Breakfast is served from 8.00 am to 10.00 am

Lunch from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm

Hi-Tea from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm

Dinner from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm

Service is very friendly and the staff are very helpful and respectful. Initially I found them a bit laidback but my feedback was received well and the response was satisfactory.

My personal favorite meal here was the breakfast, with its wide range of dishes across South Indian, North Indian and Western fare.

A quick glimpse of the dishes which I experienced here –

In-room dining service –

There is an in-room dining menu in case you do not wish to go to the restaurant, especially during the rainy season.

Food options outside the resort –

Kushalnagar town and Madikeri city have quite a few restaurants to choose from.

Activities –

Activities within the hotel –

Apart from the aforementioned swimming, spa, indoor and outdoor games and general chilling, the resort also organises a bonfire from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm depending on the weather.

Guests are also taken on a short walk outside the premises to the river Kaveri which flows nearby.

Things to do in the Surroundings –

While Coorg has several tourist attractions, TGI Redolent has the advantage of being located near some of the popular places of interest like –

Chiklihole dam – Sunset point and unique circular dam on the River Chiklihole, a tributary of the River Kaveri.

5.8 km from the resort (15 min drive)

Nisargadhama – A bamboo forest garden with shopping, boating, children’s play area, deer park, restaurant etc. They also have cottages where one can stay.

6 km (10 min)

Bylakuppe – A famous Golden temple and Buddhist monastery.

13 km (25 min)

Harangi Dam –

12 km (20 min)

Harangi elephant camp and backwaters – River view, boating, play area, elephant feeding, restaurant etc.

12 km (20 min)

Also, Madikeri city is just 30 km away and has its own set of tourist places to visit.

Visitor Profile –

Guests of all ages are permitted with no restrictions.

The resort with its blissful and peaceful setting and various activities, is ideal for families, friends, couples, solo guests etc. With the facilities it offers, it is also suitable for corporates and business visitors.

Its various venues are suited for any type of occasion, whether it be a rejuvenating break from the mundane to get away from it all or for corporate team outings or personal celebrations.

It is a good place for individuals, couples, families and groups of friends. Bear in mind however, that it is not a wheelchair accessible place since it is built on undulating terrain and has many uneven areas throughout the property.

Best time to visit –

Coorg is a year round destination. The weather especially within the coffee plantations, is pleasant even in summers. Rainy season has its own charms, though outdoor activities may be restricted. Winters are cold but actually quite lovely and are also a great time to visit.

Phone and internet connectivity –

The property provides a free Wifi connection for its guests which is quite stable. There is an intercom facility from the rooms with 24/7 service.

What is available and what you should carry –

The resort has a generator for power back up in case of a power failure.

All standard toiletries and bed and bath linen are provided.

Carry proper swimwear if you are going to use the pool.

If you are going to be climbing hills and trekking in the surroundings, some of the items you would need are comfortable shoes, caps, sunglasses, sunscreen, binoculars, camera, water, snacks, first aid kit and any other trekking gear etc.

Summers are quite hot, so light cotton clothing will be best. In the rainy season and winter, it can get a bit chilly, especially in the early mornings and evenings, so warm wear will be definitely required. Umbrellas are provided but you can carry your own rainwear too.

Kushalnagar town is 10 km away and most of the essential items are available there.

As always, carry your ID card with you.

Additional Information –

A large, open air parking space is available right in front of the resort gates.

Vehicles are not usually permitted beyond this point and guests have to walk into the premises.

There is no accommodation provided for the drivers of guests. They have to sleep in the car. But washing and bathing facilities are provided along with free staff food.

The resort is not really access friendly for those who have mobility issues due to physical impairment or advanced age. The terrain is hilly and currently there is no buggy available, though there are plans in future. Also, there are a few stairs to access the cottages.

The resort does not permit pets.

Getting there –

By air –

The nearest airport distance wise, is the Kannur International airport which is 90 km away and the road journey takes 2.5 hours.

Next is the Mysore airport which is 110 km away and takes around 2.5 hours.

Then comes the Mangalore International Airport which is 170 km away and the drive via the ghats (mountains) takes around 4 hours.

Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore, which is the best connected one in comparison with the above airports, is 270 km, around 5 hours.

By Rail –

Mysore railway station is 95 km away around 2.25 hours.

By Road –

Driving down from Kannur, Mysore, Mangalore, Bangalore, is the most convenient way to get to the place.

One can also take a bus from these places. The resort is around 10 km from Kushalnagar Bus Stand.

Taxis and autos are a possibility for last mile accessibility.

Coorg truly feels like a place where nature, culture, and history come together beautifully. The combination of lush coffee plantations, misty hills, and rich Kodava heritage makes it so much more than just another hill station. I love how Coorg manages to stay serene and authentic despite being a popular tourist destination — from the warm hospitality of the locals to the untouched forests and waterfalls, everything adds to its charm. Definitely a must-visit for anyone seeking peace, adventure, and a deeper connection with nature.
