Flechazo

Flechazo (fley-cha-zo … cha as in Tea ) meaning Love at first sight (in spanish) and literally meaning – An arrow shot (by Cupid I presume), is the new kid on the block.
Calling themselves a MediterrAsian restaurant, this large, Buffet only place serves Asian cuisine parallely with some Mediterranean.
One of their posters (from the several on the wall), sums up their theme, as it defines Flechazo as – what one gets ‘When Sushi met Roti’.

Attempting to be different from the crowd, they entertain their crowds with innovations that include a Conveyor belt bearing 5 veg and 5 non veg starters in single serve portions, that include Sushi, dimsums, prawn cocktails, pani puri and such.

Their biggest draw however, is the DIY pizza station where kids (of all ages) can make their own pizza right from rolling their bases, to topping them. And as the posters say – Make your own pizza. It tastes 5 times better.
The popularity of this counter is evident with kids and adults all vying for the rolling pin and creating their own masterpieces
The pizzas are baked in a a rustic looking ‘Faux woodfire’ oven (that actually uses gas) and has a baking stone covering the entire surface.

Their other attraction is the Instant ice cream where the basic mix is enhanced with flavors of choice and instantly frozen using a measure of Liquid Nitrogen that sits in its airtight canister. Paan, Gulkand, Coconut etc are some of the exciting flavors and the Icing on the Ice cream is again crushed bits of flash frozen, fresh Betel leaf or Rose petals.

Apart from what is on the Belt, one can also belt more starters that are served directly at the table  We had lamb kababs, dahi vada, Manakeesh (a Levantine bread with toppings) … and also chicken, paneer and prawn pakodas. The highlight here was the Shawarma that was sliced at the table.

The prawn cocktail, Galouti kababs, Manakeesh and most of the other starters were good. The dimsums though were rather dry and the dahi vada was too sweet for our liking. Also the pakodas were a bit too tough for us. All feedback was given and taken in the right spirit.

Though one can satiate oneself merely on their starters and desserts, they do have a soup and bread counter and also the main course which largely serves Indian and Asian. The only Med foods there were a couple of salads like Tabbouleh and a Tuna salad, both of which were pretty good.
The Biryani that is apparently their speciality, did not hit the spot and could have done with a better flavor. The rest of the food consisted of what one might find at regular buffets with the usual Indian spread along with a smattering of Chinese or Thai and I was too full to try any of it.
However, the source of attraction at this counter was the homestyle Crab curry and this went really well with the steamed rice and all 10 fingers

In addition to the food, they have a Mocktail section with an interesting menu (and which is charged separately). The ‘barmen’ did a really good job and some of the beverages that we had, included the Kaffir Lime and Green tea Julep, Fig and Berry smoothie and a Nitro Batida which was a drink that was transformed into an ice cream by the magic of Nitrogen.

The service is pleasant and the staff know their food. They are ever willing to attend to diners whether it is in serving them at the table or assisting them with DIY counters (that rather DIY’fies the DIY’finition … but let us call it DIY with some aid then  )

This being a new place, they do have teething troubles where some of the dishes are concerned and it would need a wee bit of more of effort to take them from Love at first Sight to Love at first Bite … but going by the full tables and waiting crowds AND the big whiteboard where folk scribble their appreciation, they seem to be giving the people and especially families, exactly what they want (which includes parking, the bane of Bangaloreans).

And if you are an Early bird or an Early Adult (read kid ) between 6-12 years, you have a reduced price meal. Kids below 6 are not charged.

Free WiFi is also provided … in case you just cannot wait to publish your experience
