Le Meridien – Calangute, Goa

Le Meridien played host to me for the 3 days that I was in Goa for the Goa International Travel Mart GITM 2019, that took place from Oct 23rd – 25th, 2019.

I was put up in this hotel as a part of the Indian media and the experience was pleasant and comfortable.

This post has a few words about the place, for those who would like a centrally located option which has a 5 star rating and amenities to match.

About Le Meridien Hotels –

Le Meridien hotels are a high end chain which are a part of Marriott International hotels.

About Le Meridien, Calangute –

This is a 146 room 5 star hotel that has its presence in the prime locality of Calangute, close to beaches, shopping, eateries and not too far from many places of sightseeing interest for tourists.

The hotel has 2 blocks which are separated by the swimming pool. The first block has the reception area, restaurants and 12 rooms that include the suites.

The second block has the rest of the rooms.

Rooms –

There are 141 rooms and 5 suites.

Room categories range from classic to classic balcony and pool view rooms. They also have Family studio rooms, a Junior suite and a Vista suite.

Amenities include air conditioning, iron, mini bar, alarm clock, TV, coffee maker, floor to ceiling windows, WiFi, bottled water, comfortable beds, bathroom toiletries, bath robe and hair dryer.

The pool view rooms have the best view. Each floor also has a common circular balcony that is pool facing.

Banquet halls and meeting rooms –

There are 4 meeting rooms with 10,365 sq ft of total meeting space.

Dining –

The all day diner Latest Recipe, the Jazz and Grills whiskey bar that is open for dinner and Longitude 73 the coffee bar in the lounge that serves cocktails post sundown. 73 is also the longitudinal coordinate of the Le Meridien. In addition they have the Plunge which serves food and drink by the poolside at lunch and dinner.

I was there only at breakfast time on all days and they have a good range of western and Indian options including some local ones like Ros omelette. They also had a chaat counter at breakfast 😀

Amenities and facilities –

Amenities on the property include a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and a center for family and children’s activities.

Phone and internet connectivity –

Free Wi Fi is provided and internet connectivity is reliable since the hotel is in within the city.

Best time to visit –

Goa is an all year round destination with humid, tropical climate. The peak season however, is from October to February.

Visitor profile –

The hotel is well suited for a range of profiles right from families to couples to leisure travellers to business travellers.

Getting there –

Le Meridien, Calangute is 38 km from Goa International Airport at Dabolim and it can take anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on the weather and traffic.
