Organics Millets International Trade Fair 2019 – OMITF 2019 -Day 2

The Organics and Millets International Trade Fair 2019 (OMITF2019) scheduled for Jan 18th-20th, 2019, was held at the Tripuravasini Gate, at the Bangalore Palace grounds.

Highlights from Day 2 of the OMITF2019 –

Various programs, discussions, lectures etc on organics and millets, went on at the respective halls dedicated for this purpose. B2B interactions were on in full swing at the B2B lounge. The main stage area was the venue for the farmer related sessions and the 2 International halls for Millets and for Organics, also had ongoing day long lectures, discussions etc.

Consumers thronged the stalls in thousands, leaving with armloads of novel and interesting products that were on sale.

The food court saw unprecedented crowds at the various food outlets.

The drawing contest and chef’ culinary challenge also took place at the Khanavali food court.

Drawing contest –

Drawing contests were organized for children (between 5 and 16 years) to create awareness in them about the importance and uses of Organics and Millets.

Food court –

The food court drew huge crowds who came to enjoy the various millet and organic based offering by several food outlets.

 

Culinary contests –

The final teams that were shortlisted at Ramiah college for the Smart Food Culinary Challenge conducted by government of Karnataka, Ramiah University of Applied Sciences and ICRISAT, had their final show down at  Khanavali, the food court.

After a long and grueling day long battle, the Ramiah team emerged victorious.

The contest was judged by Chef Selvaraj of Taj Vivanta and Chef Anahita Dhondy of the Bangalore based restaurant, Sodabottleopenerwala.

Cultural programs –

Main stage cultural programs took place in the evening, after all the hectic technical sessions of the day and visitors enjoyed the various dances and performances.

 

Stalls –

There were innumerable stalls offering wide choices to the consumers. Millets, grains, value added snacks and ready to eat products, gluten free options, metal and terracotta cookware for safe cooking, health drinks, fresh produce and many more items were on display and sale. Delighted customers were seen with arms loaded with bags full of items.
